We are delighted to announce that Craig Dores was appointed to the role North East & North Cumbria Regional Simulation Technician Champion, representing both the North East Simulation Network (NESN) and ASPiH at the end of 2025. This role has been established to strengthen engagement, enhance networking opportunities, and support the professional development of Simulation Technicians across the region and the wider UK.

Before moving into clinical simulation, Craig served as a Combat Medic in the British Army an experience that shaped his belief in the importance of simulation and scenario-based learning to build competence, confidence, and resilience within clinical teams. In the NHS he has supported a wide range of simulation-based and immersive training initiatives and was an Immersive Learning Technology Officer (ILTO) with NHS England. As an ILTO Craig contributed to regional and national projects focused on embedding digital and immersive technologies into education and workforce development.
In his new role Craig aims to;
Actively connect with simulation technicians across NHS Trusts and Universities within the North East and North Cumbria to map our community and ensure everyone feels supported and included.
Enhance communication and shared learning by sharing key information from NESN, ASPiH, NHSE, and national bodies through consistent and accessible channels.
Promote professional growth and opportunity; to support the development of regional training opportunities for simulation technicians, with a longer-term ambition of rotational events across the UK.
Contribute to national initiatives through the ASPiH Technicians & Learning Technologists Special Interest Groups (SIGs).
Craig would love to hear from anyone working in a simulation technical or related role and encourage colleagues to connect, share experiences, and get involved. If you would like to discuss the role, share ideas, or explore opportunities for collaboration, please feel free to get in touch.
"I look forward to working together to strengthen our regional network and support the ongoing development of our profession"
Craig will be joining our current ASPiH Tech Champion Dan Wade-Myers from Teesside University.
