Following this Autumn’s Sim Tech North event, the Faculty of Patient Safety would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Thomas Hayes, who is stepping down from his role as the North East regional ASPiH champion to focus on new areas.

Tom has been a driving force within our network, playing a pivotal role in the success of key initiatives including the 2023 North East Simulation Network conference, Sim Tech Days, and Simulation Fellow induction events. His technical expertise and willingness to support other centres have made a lasting impact, and his guidance has been deeply appreciated by colleagues across the region.

Nationally, Tom is highly respected within the simulation tech community. Through ASPiH, he has delivered a series of well-received webinars and seminars, helping to advance simulation practice and foster collaboration.

While we are sad to see him step away from the champion role, we are delighted that Tom will continue to be part of our Simulation team at Newcastle Hospitals. His legacy of leadership and innovation in simulation will continue to inspire the new generation of NESN technicians.

Both Dr Kate Williamson and Dr Niall Mullen would like to thank Tom for his outstanding contributions and wishing him all the best in his future projects.
