Northumbria University has an excellent reputation for providing innovative, flexible and wide ranging professional learning and workforce development for those working in the caring professions. As part of University’s Patient Safety drive and building on extensive scoping of the needs of the workforce we have designed a series of degree and masters level modules on simulation based education (SBE), and Human Factors.
The Human Factor module, “Applying Human Factors to Healthcare Organisations”, which will provisionally commence in October 2015 aims to provide students with the opportunity to study in depth the underpinning human factors in healthcare that can affect performance and patient safety.
The SBE modules, “Developing Skills in Healthcare Simulation”, which will provisionally commence in January 2016 are aimed at providing students with the opportunity to study SBE as a learning and teaching methodology exploring scenario design, delivery of scenarios and simulation sessions, debriefing, patient safety strategies, and programming simulators.Enrol
