Simulation in Dentistry
Simulation is crucial within the dental undergraduate curriculum. The main function of our skills unit is to teach undergraduate students to operatively remove diseased tooth tissue and to successfully restore teeth with a robust and functional restoration. Increasingly centres are turning to more advanced simulation and haptic systems. At Newcastle, although we do use advanced simulation teeth, we believe that working on natural teeth is incredibly important. It gives our students experience of how real tooth tissue behaves under operative conditions.
